Lieutenant governor candidate welcomes Judy Baker, Luann Ridgeway into race

We already have incumbent Peter Kinder and Brad Lager in the race, soon to be joined by Judy Baker and Luann Ridgeway, but another overlooked candidate, who places himself squarely in the Ron Paul/Ross Perot camp, Mike Carter, is also in the race and welcomed the new competitors in this news release issued Monday:

Mike Carter today announced his open-arm welcome to the two new Missouri Lieutenant Governor candidates -- State Sen. Luann Ridgeway and former state Rep. Judy Baker.

"It is just neat to have such a robust offering of candidates put up for Missouri's voters. Truth is, if I can get all the candidates to ascribe to Ron Paul's philosophy of keeping government out of our private lives, well, I would help such candidates in any way possible," said Carter.

"I hope they all are hearing Ron Paul's message, Dr. Paul is very concerned about warrantless sneak & peaks, corporate privatization of Missouri police forces through traffic cameras, citizen-bank-account monitoring, and the proliferation of bad state laws that allow police officers to stop a citizen/driver because s/he isn't wearing a seat belt."

Carter says that if he were Missouri's Attorney General he would push to make sure Missouri steered clear of such efforts. He hopes a like-minded GOP candidate emerges.

Carter said that he has "voted for and donated money to campaigns all across the political spectrum for many years and firmly believe[s] that the two-party system hurts the voters and seeks to dumb down the voting process. All elections should be non-partisan."

Carter is an Independent-minded Republican who has cast votes for Ross Perot and Ron Paul. He is a former judge, real estate attorney, Senior Lecturer for the University of Missouri, corporate counsel, and Director at the St. Louis Board of REALTORS.
