(From Sarah Steelman's Senate campaign)
Sarah Steelman, candidate for United States Senate, release the following statement of her opposition to the "Stop Online Piracy Act" (SOPA), which is currently scheduled for a vote tomorrow in the U.S. Senate.
"I am opposed to the "Stop Online Piracy Act" (SOPA) and call on Congress to oppose the legislation as it currently stands and to stop the rush to bring this legislation up for a vote. In particular, I call on Senator McCaskill and the Democrat leadership of the U.S. Senate to not rush this bill to the Senate floor that could have many unintended consequences and have an impact that could restrict free speech. A proper balance must be achieved to protect intellectual property without impeding the free market of ideas that the internet has facilitated."
