Steelman to McCaskill: Support the Keystone Pipeline
(From the Sarah Steelman Senate campaign)
United States Senate Candidate Sarah Steelman is not persuaded by the recent efforts of opponent Senator Claire McCaskill’s attempts to “talk” Missourians into believing she is an advocate for affordable energy.
“Senator McCaskill and Washington are completely out of touch with what is going on back here at home. As gas prices have steadily increased over the last three years, costing Missourians more and more, Senator McCaskill has done nothing to help develop domestic energy supplies and continues to support President Obama’s policies of higher energy prices for consumers.“
While at home, Senator Claire McCaskill has been traveling around the state on her “Hometown Energy Tour” in an effort to promote her support for affordable energy. In Washington D.C. however, McCaskill voted in favor of cap and trade and when that failed, she voted in favor of giving the EPA unchecked authority to regulate greenhouse gasses as a way to bypass Congress. Senator McCaskill had a chance to support the Keystone Pipeline yet voted to delay its approval.
"I support developing domestic oil supplies and the approval of the Keystone Pipeline. Senator McCaskill has supported job killing legislation such as cap and trade and legislation that has given the Environmental Protection Agency more authority to implement regulations that are choking Missouri businesses and hampering job creation. I am urging Senator McCaskill to actively encourage President Obama to approve the Keystone Pipeline NOW. It will create thousands of jobs and increase oil supplies flowing to domestic oil refineries."
