Joplin man charged with heroin trafficking to be held without bond

A federal judge today denied Lavar Beard,33, one of five people indicted by a federla grand jury on heroin trafficking charges, was ordered held without bond today.

Beard allegedly sold heroin that was responsible for the death of Ryan Cockrell, 26, son of former major league outfielder Alan Cockrell.

Cockrell, an employee of Commercial Gasket Company, died Aug. 19, 2011, at Freeman Hospital.
