Debate on Rep. Scott Dieckhaus' bill, which would require that at least 50 percent of a teacher's evaluation be based on the results of standardized tests, originally scheduled for Tuesday, was delayed, but is expected to be held sometime this week.
MNEA's latest legislative report indicates the bill does not have enough votes to past, but notes that Dieckhaus and other bill supporters are working on changes to garner the extra votes.
The bill would also prohibit the use of seniority in determining which teachers remain employed when budget cuts are necessary and eliminate minium salaries for teachers with master's degrees.
