In this video, "The Kanakuk Story," young people talk about the need to get away from the culture, the media, and yes, even the schools.
The youth talk about the indescribable pressures they face in the outside world, where they might be lured into pornography. Nothing like that, of course, ever happens at Kanakuk.
The video does nothing to reassure anyone with knowledge of the sex crimes committed by Pete Newman, or those allegedly committed by Lee Bradberry, that children who attend the camps will never face that kind of horror.
There is no question that Kanakuk has been a blessing to many, what is very hurtful and disappointing is the deliberate action by Joe White and his staff to look away at the warning signs of Pete Newman and Now Bradberry.
ReplyDeleteI raised my son in great christian home and it was not until he attended Kanakuk that he was exposed to the nasty filth of masturbation and homosexual behavior of one Pete newman. And then the blind of his boss, Joe white. Thanks for being the biggest stumbling block in my sons spiritual and emotional well being.
Joe White and his staff are blind to the truth. It is time they move on and let someone else run the camp, otherwise shut it down.
They are not equipped with the wisdom to protect kids. They are too focused on growing the business regardless of who it hurts. And if it does, pay them off, send them on a vacation and call it good.
This video is nothing but insulting.
Check this out. Even kanakuks own insurnace is suing them and John Doe J.G. This continues to be sad on all kinds of levels on how this is all playing out. Even the insurance wants no part of their client and their BS. I think this is saying "Kanakuk you screwed up and now you are on your own"

ReplyDeleteI read the Insurance claim - it basically asks for a "Dec Action" declaring that certain acts of Pete are outside of the scope of insurance coverage. Turns out Kuk DOES have a $2M/$1M policy for sexual abuse. But because Pete was doing things that were "rainmaking" and "going to concerts" rather than activities at camp, he falls outside of Kanakuk's coverage.
It's a blow to Kanakuk (because they'll have to pay judgments themselves) and to the victims (because the deep pockets of insurance may not be there), because the insurance company is absolutely right - these acts were not within Pete's "scope and course" of employment. Insurance coverage shouldn't apply, ESPECIALLY if the court determines that the camp had prior knowledge of the risk.
It seems crazy to say it, but it's THIS litigation, and not the direct personal injury litigation, where we're most likely to see the truth come out, as the Plaintiff insurance company's lawyers won't be as worried about emotion as they will about facts, dates, and documentation.
Hello, Ross? Is this thing on? Joe and Kanakuk have spent a considerable amount of time and effort re-structuring assets.
