THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON WEDNESDAY TO 8 PM CDT SATURDAY. * TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING MAINLY ALONG AND WEST OF U.S. 71 AND ALONG AND NORTH OF U.S. 54 TO THE LAKE OF THE OZARKS. * TEMPERATURES...AIR TEMPERATURES WILL REACH THE UPPER 90S TO LOWER 100S EACH AFTERNOON AS HEAT INDICES WILL RANGE FROM 100 TO 105 DEGREES. * IMPACTS...THOSE TAKING PART IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES WILL BECOME SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES IF PROPER PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR EVENING. KNOW THE SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF HEAT EXHAUSTION AND HEAT STROKE. WEAR LIGHT WEIGHT AND LOOSE FITTING CLOTHING WHEN POSSIBLE AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER.
