THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A HEAT ADVISORY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING. * TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS WILL IMPACT THE MISSOURI OZARKS AND EXTREME SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS TODAY. * TEMPERATURE...TEMPERATURES IN THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 90S COMBINED WITH A MORE HUMID AIR MASS WILL PRODUCE HEAT INDEX VALUES IN THE UPPER 90S TO NEAR 103 DEGREES FROM MIDDAY INTO THIS AFTERNOON. THE HOTTEST TEMPERATURES WILL OCCUR ACROSS FAR SOUTH CENTRAL MISSOURI WHERE HEAT INDEX VALUES MAY REACH 105 DEGREES. WHILE CLOUDS AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BRING LOCALIZED RELIEF FROM THE HEAT...AREAS THAT RECEIVE SUNSHINE WILL QUICKLY HEAT UP. * IMPACTS...THOSE TAKING PART IN OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES WILL BECOME SUSCEPTIBLE TO HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES IF PROPER PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... TAKE EXTRA PRECAUTIONS IF YOU WORK OR SPEND TIME OUTSIDE. WHEN POSSIBLE...RESCHEDULE STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES TO EARLY MORNING OR EVENING.
