Kander reserves more than $1 million in TV time for fall

Expect to see advertising from Rep. Jason Kander, D-Kansas City, a candidate for secretary of state everywhere this fall. In a news release issued today, Kander says he has raised more money than the three Republican competitors combined.

Fundraising reports filed this past week show that Democratic Secretary of State candidate Jason Kander now has more cash on hand than all three of his Republican opponents combined. He also leads his nearest challenger by more than $495,000. Those impressive figures don’t include any of the substantial debt that the Republicans have amassed.

Reports filed last Monday show the Secretary of State candidates with the following cash on hand and debt amounts:
  • Jason Kander has $797,215 cash on hand and no debt.
  • Shane Schoeller has $301,802 cash on hand and $22,492 in debt.
  • Bill Stouffer has $237,266 cash on hand and $161,235 in debt.
  • Scott Rupp has $176,320 cash on hand and $214 in debt.
Kander’s fundraising advantage is certain to grow over the next month as the Republican candidates are expected to spend most of their current campaign funds in an attempt to win the August primary.

The Kander campaign also announced today that they have reserved more than $1 million worth of television ad time in October and November in markets across the state. Kander will also be purchasing extensive radio, newspaper and online advertising to supplement his television buy.

“Voters are sick and tired of the partisan political games and are ready for a public servant with the courage to do what’s right,” Kander said. “We are now in a great position to take this message to voters in every corner of the state this fall thanks to the early outpouring of support we have received.”
