Missouri Supreme Court will not hear Rita Hunter case

A lawsuit filed by a 95-year-old woman's family against former Jasper County Public Administrator Rita Hunter appears to have reached the end of the road.

The Missouri Supreme Court earlier this month decided not to hear the case of France v. Hunter. The case was sent to the court for its consideration after the Southern District Court of Appeals upheld the trial court ruling in favor of Mrs. Hunter and her co-defendants, her former assistant Charlene Kelly, and Stephen Bazzano, D.O.

A federal indictment charged Mrs. Hunter with health care fraud, theft of public money, document fraud, Social Security fraud, and Medicaid fraud.

Her case is scheduled to come to trial in late November.
