Joplin mosque drive surpasses target by more than $100,000

With 38 days left to raise funds, the Joplin Mosque drive has $356,825 as of this writing.

After the Islamic Society Mosque burned to the ground eight days ago, the fundraising began with a goal of $250,000. That goal was passed in less than three days.

What could have turned out to a be a black mark in the positive story that Joplin has become in the days, weeks, and months following the May 22, 2011, Joplin Tornado, has turned into another affirmation of the resilience of the human spirit.
