Akin Breakin' Heart available for 99 cents on Amazon

My song "Akin' Breakin' Heart, is now available as a 99-cent download at the Amazon MP3 store. I provided the lyrics and vocals for the song, backed up by the capable Rick Murray Quartet.

Lyrics of the song are provided below:

AKIN BREAKIN’ HEART

There’s a Congressman named Todd,
He talks straight to God
And what he says has me bent out of shape
He knows a doctor can’t you see
Says there’ll be no pregnancy
For a woman who’s legitimately raped.

And you can tell the world, that Todd Akin is a squirrel,
Or you can wait and he’ll tell them himself.
‘Cause he’ll go on TV, and he’ll tell you and me
that he knows everything about a woman’s health

So don’t tell his heart, his Akin breakin’ heart.
Don’t tell him that he has to quit.
‘Cause if you tell his heart, his Akin breakin’ heart
He won’t think that it’s legitimate.

You can tell Louise, padlock your BVDs
Before you go a walkin’ in the sun.
And you can tell Adele, that she’ll go straight to hell
If she ever tries to have a little fun.

You can tell ol’ Mitt, that he should show some grit,
And tell the man his Senate try is dyin’
But if he ever did, old Todd would flip his lid,
‘cause his views on rape are just like Mr. Ryan’s.

So don’t tell his heart, his Akin breakin’ heart.
Don’t tell him that he has to quit
‘Cause if you tell his heart, his Akin breakin’ heart
He won’t think that it’s legitimate.

Don’t tell his heart, his Akin breakin’ heart
Don’t try to tell him he should quit.
‘Cause if you tell his heart, his Akin breakin’ heart
He won’t think that it’s legitimate.

Your lyrics show that you have at least some potential as a songwriter. Did you perhaps miss your calling?

  2. I was wondering what would rhyme with "Legitimate." You do not disappoint. Best 99 cents I spent today.
And just FYI, on my iTunes music library you fall between Randy Newman and Ray Charles. Not bad company at all!
