Catanese: Todd Akin may not be dead yet

Politico reporter Dave Catanese, who created some controversy with his tweets about Congressman Todd Akin's "legitimate" rape comment, told a Drury University audience Thursday that Akin's Senate candidacy cannot be written off yet:

Asked by an audience member to comment on Missouri’s Senate race, Catanese said that Democratic candidate Claire McCaskill is more favored to win re-election than ever, but there may still be hope for Akin.

“I think if somebody gives him some money, he may not be dead yet,” he said.

Catanese said that Republicans may reconsider their lack of support for Akin come October if they still need his seat to win control of the Senate.

“He might be calling their bluff,” he said.
