Anti-teacher, pro-voucher group gives $10,000 to Republican Senate campaign committee

The anti-teacher, pro-voucher (and criminally misnamed) Students First organization contributed $10,000 to the Republican Senate Campaign Committee, according to a 48-hour report filed today with the Missouri Ethics Commission.

The organization, which is fronted by the former head of Washington, D. C. schools Michelle Rhee, (who is registered as a lobbyist for Students First in this state) has poured its money and efforts into eliminating teacher tenure, requiring nearly all of teacher evaluations to be based on student scores on poorly-written standardized tests, and putting public money into private schools and public charter schools, which do not have to follow rules followed by regular public schools and are often run by for-profit businesses.
