Get your tickets now- Spence to debate Nixon, only Nixon won't be there

In the "this smacks of desperation" department, Republican candidate for governor Dave Spence sent out this news release promising a debate between himself and Jay Nixon. There is only one small catch- Nixon won't be there. His part has been recast and will be played by Spence's primary opponent Bill Randles.

This might not be a great move since from everything I saw in the primary, Randles is a much better speaker and much better on his feet than Spence. The news release is printed below.

Dave Spence and Jay Nixon will debate the important issues facing Missourians on Friday October 26, at 7pm.  Bill Randles will be playing the part of liberal career politician Jay Nixon who refuses to try to defend his failed record in another debate with Dave Spence.

WHAT: Gubernatorial Debate featuring Dave Spence and Jay Nixon (played by Bill Randles)

    WHEN: Friday, October 26, 2012 from 7:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.

WHERE: Daniel J. Conoyer Social Sciences Bldg., Room 1102
On the Campus of St. Charles Community College
4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, Cottleville, MO 63376

The media and audience will have an opportunity to submit questions that will be asked during the debate.

Dave Spence is a Missouri manufacturer who built his business from the ground up.  He’s running for governor to use his experience to turn Missouri’s failing economy around.  With 79,000 fewer Missourians employed than when Jay Nixon took office, 107,000 fewer Missourians in the workforce than when Jay Nixon took office, personal incomes at their lowest level since 1994, Missouri ranking 50th in job creation and experiencing zero percent economic growth, it’s time for bold new leadership in our state.

Bill Randles is Dave Spence’s Senior Policy Advisor.  He is a Harvard educated attorney who knows as well as anyone the devastating impact Jay Nixon’s policies have had on Missouri.
