Spence puts half million of his own money into campaign

One day after he received $300,000 from the Republican Governors Association, Republican businessman Dave Spence added another hefty check to boost his last-minute push for the governor's mansion.

A 48-hour report filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission shows Spence put $500,000 of his own money into his campaign.

The $800,000 comes during the same week that it was noted Spence was badly beaten by Gov. Jay Nixon in the fundraising race, by nearly a 3-1 margin.
