Missouri GOP reps declare war on Obama: We won't follow gun laws

Sixty-two Missouri legislators, including all of those from the Joplin area, have signed on to a bill sponsored by Rep. Casey Guernsey, R-Bethany, which would stop the federal government from enforcing any gun laws or regulations in the state of Missouri.

The text of HB 170, which was posted less than an hour ago, includes the following passage;

It shall be unlawful for any officer or employee of this state, or any political subdivision, or any federal firearms dealer licensed under 19 U.S.C. Section 923 to enforce or attempt to enforce any act, law, statute, rule, or regulation of the federal government relating to a personal firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition that is owned or manufactured commercially or privately in the state of Missouri and that remains exclusively within the boundaries of the state of Missouri.            2. Any official, agent, or employee of the federal government who enforces or attempts to enforce any act, order, law, statute, rule, or regulation of the federal government upon a personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is owned or manufactured commercially or privately in the state of Missouri and that remains exclusively within the borders of the state of Missouri shall be guilty of a class D felony.
The Guernsey bill also allows anyone charged with violating federal gun laws enacted after Jan. 1 to request the Missouri attorney general to represent him or her.

The bill's wording also makes it clear that it applies to any efforts by the Obama Administration to limit any type of regulation of semi-automatic weapons or magazines and any attempt to register people who own any kind of gun.

In addition to Guernsey the bill's list of co-sponsors includes representatives Bill White R-Joplin, Charlie Davis R-Webb City, Bill Reiboldt, R-Neosho; Mike Kelley, R-Lamar, Bill Lant, R-Joplin, and Tom Flanigan R-Carthage.

The bill is classifed as "emergency" legislation, because it is "deemed necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health, welfare, peace, and safety," If it passes both houses and receives the governor's signatures, it takes effect immediately.

    Maybe Missouri just needs to leave the Union and form its own country. And it could probably get Kansas to come along for the ride.

    Finally, some intelligent representatives taking necessary action. And to the ignorant sheep suggesting Missouri secede from the "Union", do society a favor and off yourself.

  4. This will surely be an interesting showdown. What will gun store owners do when federal and state law say two different things?

  5. Everything that obama has penned unconstitutionally needs to be nullified by the People through the States. The States are constitutionally above the federal government and the people are constitutionally above the States. Let's start utilizing the power that the Constitution asigns to the People and remove the unconstitutional usurper that can't produce one legitimate piece of documentation or pass a basic background check that the People are required to take with just about everything.

    I personally feel that if the State of Missouri refuses to follow Federal law that is designed to keep me safe, I will file a lawsuit against the State of Missouri for violation of my Constitutional rights under the 14th Amendment. Equal protection under the law. I want protected with the same laws that protect others in other States.

    Than maybe you should move cause im a american and i prefer to be able to protect myself and my family. And we could say the same about you. My family has been abused and mistreated by county authorities for years now only thing that kept them at bay was senator Lathrow was an old farm buddy of my grandfathers and walked in to the police station with my grandfather while my grandfather told them that next time they harass him and his family if would put a bullet in thier head. And they have been trying to set up family for years even being caught by elderly neighbors planting drugs in grandparents house and coming back to accuse my uncle for selling it and being told on by friend who also told them where to look all this not knowing they had been filmed by the neighbor mins before entering the basement door with the same brown paper bag of drugs they said my uncle had stashed in the basement lol and when they were shown this evidents they blew it off as just a warning next time would be jail time. The list goes on all because we dont allow them to push us around and will fight for our rights to the death!! Simple as it sounds its not cause we are a wealth family not a rich citizen so attorney's are way out of our budget just like buying our food rather than raising and growing it. Which they say is illegal unless i pay them some sort of tax. Screw you i have the right to live as i see fit not the way you say i have to because its what you prefer. Go buy your own land start your own community of robot slaves to cater to your insanity. We may all be equal but we are not the same soul and to try to force subjection of ones ideals on anyone by means of any multitude of followers is an occult not a free state. So think about that one.

    But read the words: "relating to a personal firearm, firearm accessory, or ammunition that is owned or manufactured commercially or privately in the state of Missouri and that remains exclusively within the boundaries of the state of Missouri."

    How does one prove a firearm has not ever left the state or that it was made entirely in the state? Seems like there are some logical holes here. But then, I remember polypropylene coolers...which has never entirely gotten fixed.
