Newman response to Kinder sexist remark: I'm no soccer mom

Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder probably hit a home run with his target audience when he said the following:

"Assault weapons is a misused term used by suburban soccer moms who do not understand what is being discussed here." 

Rep. Stacey Newman, D-St. Louis, issued this response:

 "Mr. Kinder, I don't play soccer.  Moms throughout the country have had to learn about assault weapons in a way most of us, even you, cannot imagine."

It does seem a bit callous for the lieutenant governor to be making jokes about an issue that is far more serious than him proving that he knows more about the technicalities of weaponry.
