Independence Superintendent Jim Hinson, a Carthage native and former East Newton superintendent, talks with Kansas City Public Television talks about his district's new policy requiring all administrators to live in the school district by the 2015-2016 school year.
Another segment of the interview involves Hinson's recent brush with the national news media over the Independence School District's decision (with family input) to send 13 obese students to a $28,000 a year South Carolina fitness camp.
"We couldn't set by and allow kids to have major life issues and maybe their lives could be shortened," Hinson said.
