Rebuild Joplin will host a housewarming ceremony at on Tuesday, March 19 at 1:00PM, at 1901 Illinois Ave. Joplin, MO at the new home of Wes and Susie Lamar. This is the 59th family that has been able to return to a safe and secure home because of the work of Rebuild Joplin and the many volunteers that have given their time.
The Lamar home was completely destroyed during the May 22, 2011 tornado; Susie managed to get into her bathroom when the tornado hit but Wes was caught outside their front. Amazingly both survived with minimal injuries but their home was completely destroyed. After two years of living in a tent, an RV and other temporary housing Wes and Susie will finally be going home. They are ready for a fresh start and dream about once again planting a garden, sitting on the patio and swimming in their pool.
