Winter weather advisory issued for Joplin, Southwest Missouri

.. WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 7 PM CDT SUNDAY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 7 PM CDT SUNDAY.
* TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED... SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AFTER MIDNIGHT INTO THE EARLY MORNING HOURS ON SUNDAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON. THE SNOW WILL GRADUALLY END FROM WEST TO EAST SUNDAY AFTERNOON.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS... SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL RANGE FROM 2 TO 5 INCHES FOR AREAS ALONG AND NORTH OF I-44.
* WINDS AND VISIBILITY... WIND GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH MAY CAUSE BLOWING AND DRIFTING OF SNOW. THIS MAY REDUCE VISIBILITIES DOWN TO LESS THAN HALF A MILE AT TIMES.
* IMPACTS... TRAVEL IMPACTS ARE EXPECTED... PARTICULARLY WITH THE RISK OF LOW VISIBILITIES AND SLICK ROADWAYS IN AREAS OF HEAVIER SNOW.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW MEANS THAT VISIBILITIES WILL BE LIMITED DUE TO A COMBINATION OF FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW. USE CAUTION WHEN TRAVELING... ESPECIALLY IN OPEN AREAS.
