Engler: We stood for gun owners against big, bad federal government

In a portion of his weekly report, Rep. Kevin Engler, R-Farmington, shared his joy that the House had voted for another of those meaningless bills that say Missouri doesn't have to obey federal laws.

The Missouri legislature took a stand for the Second Amendment this week with HB 436 and HB 170.  HB 436 establishes the Second Amendment Preservation Act and declares that self-defense is an unalienable right, which cannot be eradicated by any level of government.

HB 170 nullifies any federal laws that seek to cripple Missourian’s right to self-defense.  This bill is entitled the Firearm Protection Act, which specifies that no official shall enforce a federal firearm law when the firearm is manufactured, sold, and owned solely in Missouri.
