Hoskins: I'm keeping an eye on the DOR

In a portion of his latest report, Rep. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, lets his constituents know he has his eye on the Missouri Department of Revenue.

Many constituents have called with serious concerns about the personal document scanning being conducted by the Department of Revenue, and I share those concerns. I am aware of the situations and strongly disagree with their actions.

As is the duty of the Missouri Legislature investigations are being conducted into the allegations. DOR has stated the scanning of documents is part of an attempt to save money by centralizing printing operation, and catch fraudulent applications by having more time to review them.

DOR also maintains they are not sharing these documents with the federal government or the third-party contractor, who prints the ID’s. While all of this does lay to rest some immediate concerns about the situation it does not change the illegality, or my disagreement with the Department’s actions and I will continue to monitor the situation.
