Tornado warnings for Jasper, Newton, McDonald counties until 2:30 a.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for Jasper and Newton counties between now and 2:30 a.m.


* TORNADO WARNING FOR...
  MCDONALD COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  NEWTON COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...

* UNTIL 245 AM CDT

* AT 157 AM CDT...A SEVERE SQUALL LINE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORNADOES
  THAT MAY NOT BE VISIBLE DUE TO HEAVY RAIN WAS LOCATED ALONG A LINE
  EXTENDING FROM SAGINAW TO GOODMAN TO LANAGAN...AND MOVING EAST AT
  45 MPH.

  HAZARD...DEVELOPING TORNADO.

  SOURCE...RADAR INDICATED ROTATION. THIS LINE SEGMENT HAS A HISTORY
  OF PRODUCING TORNADOES OVER NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA.

  IMPACT...MOBILE HOMES WILL BE HEAVILY DAMAGED OR DESTROYED.
           SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO ROOFS...WINDOWS AND VEHICLES WILL
           OCCUR. FLYING DEBRIS WILL BE DEADLY TO PEOPLE AND ANIMALS.
           EXTENSIVE TREE DAMAGE IS LIKELY.

* LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
  ANDERSON...DIAMOND...FAIRVIEW...GOODMAN...GRANBY...LANAGAN...
  LEAWOOD...NEOSHO...NOEL...PINEVILLE...SAGINAW...SENECA...SHOAL
  CREEK DRIVE...SILVER CREEK...SOUTH WEST CITY AND SOUTHERN JOPLIN.

THIS WARNING ALSO INCLUDES BIG SUGAR CREEK STATE PARK. INTERSTATE 44
BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 1 AND 6 WILL ALSO BE IMPACTED BY THESE DANGEROUS
STORMS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW. MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST FLOOR OF A
STURDY BUILDING. AVOID WINDOWS. IF IN A MOBILE HOME...A VEHICLE OR
OUTDOORS...MOVE TO THE CLOSEST SUBSTANTIAL SHELTER AND PROTECT
YOURSELF FROM FLYING DEBRIS.

THIS LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS IS CAPABLE OF PRODUCING TORNADOES AND
WIDESPREAD SIGNIFICANT WIND DAMAGE. DO NOT WAIT TO SEE OR HEAR THE
TORNADO. FOR YOUR PROTECTION MOVE TO AN INTERIOR ROOM ON THE LOWEST
FLOOR OF A BUILDING.
