Winter weather advisory issued for Joplin area

EXCEEDINGLY RARE MAY SNOWFALL EXPECTED.
AN EXTREMELY LATE SEASON WINTER-LIKE STORM SYSTEM WILL IMPACT PORTIONS OF THE CNTL PLAINS & MID-MS VALLEY OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. A COLD CANADIAN AIRMASS WILL CONTINUE TO OVERTAKE THE REGION THROUGH TONIGHT WHILE STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW PRESSURE SLOWLY DRIFTS EAST ACROSS NORTHEASTERN OK. RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SNOW THIS EVENING ACROSS EASTERN KS.WITH THE RAIN/SNOW LINE REACHING THE HIGHWAY 65 CORRIDOR BY AROUND SUNRISE.
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ALONG & WEST OF AN OSCEOLA TO CASSVILLE LINE FROM LATE TONIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING. LIGHTER AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED ALONG THE HIGHWAY 65 CORRIDOR.

WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 1 PM CDT FRIDAY.
THE NATL WEATHER SVC IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW.WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 1 PM CDT FRIDAY.
* TIMING & AREAS AFFECTED.AREAS ALONG & WEST OF AN OSCEOLA TO CASSVILLE LINE FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRI MORNING.
* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS.SLUSHY SNOW ACCUMULATIONS FROM 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED. MOST OF THE ACCUMULATION WILL OCCUR ON GRASSY SURFACES.
* WINDS & VISIBILITY.BRISK NORTHERLY WINDS & MODERATE TO OCCASIONALLY HEAVY SNOW WILL REDUCE VISIBILITIES DOWN TO A MILE OR LESS AT TIMES.
* IMPACTS.WHILE MOST OF THE ACCUMULATION WILL OCCUR ON GRASSY SURFACES.SLICK SPOTS WILL BE POSSIBLE ON AREA ROADWAYS.
ESPECIALLY ON BRIDGES & OVERPASSES.
THE COMBINATION OF THE WET & HEAVY NATURE OF THE SNOW.BRISK WINDS.& FOLIAGE ON TREES MAY LEAD TO SOME SNAPPING OF TREE BRANCHES.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS & LIMITED VISIBILITIES.& USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
