Flash flood watch for Joplin area through Thursday morning

FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...

THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR

* PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND MISSOURI...INCLUDING THE
  FOLLOWING AREAS...IN SOUTHEAST KANSAS...BOURBON...CHEROKEE
  AND CRAWFORD. IN MISSOURI...BARRY...BARTON...BENTON...
  CAMDEN...CEDAR...CHRISTIAN...DADE...DALLAS...DENT...DOUGLAS...
  GREENE...HICKORY...HOWELL...JASPER...LACLEDE...LAWRENCE...
  MARIES...MCDONALD...MILLER...MORGAN...NEWTON...OREGON...
  OZARK...PHELPS...POLK...PULASKI...SHANNON...ST. CLAIR...
  STONE...TANEY...TEXAS...VERNON...WEBSTER AND WRIGHT.

* THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING

* RAINFALL WILL COME TO AN END ACROSS SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI THIS
  MORNING. MORE RAINFALL IS EXPECTED TONIGHT AND AGAIN WEDNESDAY
  NIGHT. WITH SATURATED GROUND CONDITIONS ACROSS THE AREA...IT
  WILL NOT TAKE MUCH RAINFALL TO CAUSE FLASH FLOODING.

* TORRENTIAL RAINFALL RATES OF 1 TO 2 INCHES PER HOUR WILL BE
  POSSIBLE WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS...WHICH WILL QUICKLY LEAD TO
  FLASH FLOODING OF STREAMS...LOW LYING OR POOR DRAINAGE
  AREAS...AND LOW WATER CROSSINGS.

LOCATIONS THAT NORMALLY DO NOT FLOOD WILL BE AT RISK FOR
FLOODING.

THOSE CAMPING OR FLOATING ON AREA RIVERS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR
RISING WATER LEVELS.

THOSE TRAVELING OVERNIGHT AND DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE ON THIS
MORNING SHOULD BE ALERT FOR FLOODED ROADS.

ADDITIONAL RISES AND FLOODING MAY ALSO DEVELOP ON MAIN STEM
RIVERS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD
TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.

YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION
SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
