Flood warning issued for Jasper County, surrounding area until 6 p.m.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  BARRY COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  JASPER COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  MCDONALD COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  NEWTON COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...
  SOUTHWESTERN LAWRENCE COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MISSOURI...

* UNTIL 600 PM CDT SATURDAY.

* AT 1137 AM CDT...AREA STREAM GAGES INDICATE THAT SMALL STREAMS IN
  THE WARNED AREA ARE CONTINUING TO RISE DUE TO HEAVY RAINFALL
  EARLIER TODAY. ALSO...THE MISSOURI DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
  INDICATES AN INCREASING NUMBER OF ROADS THAT BECOMING CLOSED DUE
  TO FLOODING.

* RUNOFF FROM THIS RAIN IS CAUSING FLOODING. CREEKS...STREAMS AND LOW
  WATER CROSSINGS WILL BE ESPECIALLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE DANGERS OF
  FLOODING.

THIS WARNING INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING LOW WATER
CROSSINGS...

HIGHWAY 43 AT BUFFALO CREEK WEST OF ANDERSON...
NORTH MAIN AND MURPHY BOULEVARD IN JOPLIN...
BUSINESS HIGHWAY 60 JUST NORTH OF NEOSHO.

AT 1140 AM CDT...FLOODING WAS BEING OBSERVED ALONG ROUTE AA IN WESTERN
LAWRENCE COUNTY...ALONG ROUTE KK IN SOUTHEAST MCDONALD COUNTY...NEAR
THE HEADWATERS OF THE SPRING RIVER IN WEST CENTRAL LAWRENCE
COUNTY...AND ALONG BIG SUGAR CREEK IN MCDONALD COUNTY.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR HAS BEEN REPORTED.
STREAM RISES WILL BE SLOW AND FLASH FLOODING IS NOT EXPECTED.
HOWEVER...ALL INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD TAKE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS
IMMEDIATELY.

IN HILLY TERRAIN THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS WHICH ARE
POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY RAIN. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TRAVEL ACROSS
FLOODED ROADS. FIND ALTERNATE ROUTES. IT ONLY TAKES A FEW INCHES OF
SWIFTLY FLOWING WATER TO CARRY VEHICLES AWAY.
