Missouri NEA issues action alert on HB 253

(From the Missouri National Education Association)

The legislature may consider a motion to override Governor Jay Nixon's veto of Senate Substitute for House Bill 253 when it convenes in Veto Session on September 11.  The Association strongly opposes the bill and is working with the Coalition for Missouri's Future (CMF) in a broad-based effort to sustain the Governor's veto of the bill.

Missouri NEA believes the bill will have a significant and adverse affect on state revenues and will harm the state's ability to support our public schools.  Budget analyses indicate that SS/HB 253 will have a long-term net reduction of more than $800 million per year in state revenues when fully implemented and will stagnate state general revenue for the next decade.

ACTION NEEDED:  Your help is needed! Please use the following link to the CMF action alert to sustain the Governor's veto of SS/SHB 253.  Please encourage your family members and friends to also reach out and ask their legislators to sustain the veto of SS/HB 253.
