Nixon tabs Springfield businessman for Judicial Commission

(From Gov. Jay Nixon)

Gov. Jay Nixon today appointed Steven Stepp, of Springfield, to serve on the 31stCircuit Judicial Commission.
Stepp, an army veteran, is the owner of several businesses in the Springfield area including National Audio Company, Inc., Old Spring Redevelopment Co., and National Talking Books for the Blind.
The Governor has appointed Stepp for a term ending Dec. 31, 2018.
When there is a judicial vacancy in the 31st Circuit, the 31st Circuit Judicial Commission nominates three people who meet the statutory requirements to serve as a judge in that circuit. Those names are submitted to the Governor, who appoints one of the three nominees to the vacant judicial position.
