Strong to severe thunderstorms possible today in Joplin area

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF THE MISSOURI
OZARKS AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS.
.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.
WEATHER HAZARDS EXPECTED...
LIMITED TORNADO RISK.
ELEVATED HAIL RISK.
ELEVATED THUNDERSTORM WIND DAMAGE RISK.
ELEVATED FLOODING RISK.
SIGNIFICANT LIGHTNING RISK.
LIMITED EXCESSIVE HEAT RISK.
DISCUSSION...
RAIN AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL INCREASE IN BOTH COVERAGE AND
INTENSITY DURING THE DAY TODAY. SCATTERED STRONG TO SEVERE
STORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. SOME STORMS
WILL BE CAPABLE OF PRODUCING WIND GUSTS TO 60 MPH...AND HAIL TO
THE SIZE OF QUARTERS. AN ISOLATED TORNADO WILL ALSO BE POSSIBLE.
IN ADDITION TO SEVERE WEATHER...THUNDERSTORMS WILL PRODUCE AREAS
OF TORRENTIAL RAINFALL. LATE THIS EVENING INTO THE OVERNIGHT
HOURS...WIDESPREAD MODERATE TO HEAVY RAIN IS EXPECTED TO
DEVELOP. WITH ALREADY SATURATED GROUND...FLASH FLOODING WILL BE
POSSIBLE. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FROM THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH THE WEEKEND.
HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL ALSO BE IN THE MID TO UPPER 90S LATER
TODAY IN SOME LOCATIONS.
