In an interview with KZRG, Joplin R-8 Superintendent C. J. Huff said that the Affordable Health Care Act's requirement that health benefits have to be offered to those working 30 or more hours per week could end up costing the district thousands of dollars.
Huff was asked about reports that the Jefferson City School District said the cost could be as much as $150,000.
"Jefferson City is about the same size of our district, and I could see us seeing a similar cost, from cost to the district as well as trying to keep an eye on employee hours to keep costs to the district under control. We're having to watch our bus drivers already, we can't let them work more than 30 hours a week now, and from a budget standpoint it's a stress on the district."
Health care for employees is where he chooses to draw the line at expenses? Cutting some frivolous trips and Facebook expenses would pay that in a hurry. It's a matter of priorities. And the little guy at the bottom is not a priority for CJ.
ReplyDeleteWow you think the expenses for their trips and the $12,000 a year for Facebook updates would pay for healthcare? I think your priority should be to get some schooling. Quickly.
