..WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST SUNDAY... A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR FREEZING RAIN AND A MIX OF SLEET AND SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM CST SUNDAY. * SHORT TERM TRENDS...THE FREEZING LINE CONTINUES TO EXTEND FROM NEAR JOPLIN TO OSAGE BEACH THIS AFTERNOON AND WILL BEGIN TO SLOWLY DROP BACK TO THE SOUTHEAST EARLY THIS EVENING. ANOTHER BAND OF FREEZING RAIN WILL BE PUSHING INTO WESTERN MISSOURI AND EXTREME SOUTHEAST KANSAS FROM EASTERN OKLAHOMA THIS AFTERNOON WITH ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF A TENTH TO 0.15 OF AN INCH POSSIBLE. * TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...OCCASIONAL LIGHT FREEZING RAIN THIS AFTERNOON...CHANGING TO FREEZING DRIZZLE...SLEET AND LIGHT SNOW LATER TONIGHT AND SUNDAY MORNING. * SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS...A DUSTING OR LESS THAN ONE INCH OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED ALONG THE I-44 CORRIDOR. ONE TO TWO INCHES CAN BE EXPECTED FURTHER NORTH ACROSS CENTRAL MISSOURI AND SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS. * ICE ACCUMULATIONS...ADDITIONAL ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF A TENTH TO FIFTEEN HUNDREDTHS WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON AND EARLY EVENING BRINGING STORM TOTALS FROM A QUARTER TO HALF INCH IN MANY LOCATIONS. * IMPACTS...ICE WILL CONTINUE TO CAUSE TRAVEL PROBLEMS THROUGH THIS EVENING...MAINLY ON BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES AND UNTREATED ROADWAYS. LIGHT SNOW AND SLEET ON TOP OF ICE WILL LIKELY WORSEN TRAVEL CONDITIONS TONIGHT INTO EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. ICE BUILD UP ON TREES AND POWER LINES WILL ALSO CONTINUE TO LEAD TO SPORADIC POWER OUTAGES. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF ICE AND SNOW ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE. CONSIDER TAKING A WINTER STORM KIT ALONG WITH YOU. THIS KIT SHOULD INCLUDE SUCH ITEMS AS TIRE CHAINS...BOOSTER CABLES...A FLASHLIGHT...SHOVEL...BLANKETS...EXTRA CLOTHING AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT WOULD HELP YOU SURVIVE IN CASE YOU BECOME STRANDED.
