Strong winds cause locally significant fire risk today

(From the National Weather Service)

ELEVATED TO LOCALLY SIGNIFICANT FIRE WEATHER RISK TODAY...
WESTERLY TO NORTHWESTERLY WINDS WILL INCREASE TODAY BEHIND A PASSING
COLD FRONT. THESE WINDS WILL GUST TO BETWEEN 25 AND 35 MPH AT
TIMES ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS INTO WESTERN MISSOURI.
THE COMBINATION OF GUSTY WINDS AND A DRY AIR MASS WILL RESULT IN AN
ELEVATED TO LOCALLY SIGNIFICANT FIRE WEATHER RISK ESPECIALLY
ACROSS SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS AND SOUTHWESTERN MISSOURI GENERALLY
WEST OF MISSOURI HIGHWAY 13.
THE INCREASED WINDS AND LOW HUMIDITY WILL LEAD TO AN INCREASED
POTENTIAL FOR THE RAPID SPREAD IN ANY WILDFIRE PARTICULARLY WITHIN
DRY GRASSES AND LEAF LITTER.
