Complete video- Joplin City Councilman Mike Woolston's press conference
I want to know why no one is asking obvious questions? Why is our city council, administrators and the so called "Master Developers" working on primary projects like a new Library and Theatre complex that would remove a "Downtown Destination" from our "Downtown District" that has been working to rebuild itself for 20 years and the Movie Theatre complex that would most likely kill the only existing Movie Theatre that is struggling to survive. Both entities are struggling against the advance of online on demand media that most people have available to them through internet via online services like iTunes, NetFlix, Amazon etc. I ask how this is a good investment into the re-building of Joplin when there are so many things that need attention and investment in our community! Wake up Joplin! Don't let the money grubbers build another future failed business and empty building!
Spot on, Anonymous. Lots of useless projects and millions (indeed, billions?) flowing into the pockets of someone. How many someones are there? Never mind whether the projects are needed. Never mind if they have anything to do with rebuilding after the tornado. The object is to fill as many buckets from the cash waterfall that has followed the tornado and then get out of Dodge before the people realize they've been had. I wonder if any construction company is close to the master developer and stands to profit from all the proposed projects? Maybe someone will stick a microphone in the face of one of the human shields hired by the master developer and ask. God knows the Globe won't.
