In a segment of his weekly report, Rep. Kevin Engler, R-Farmington, addresses discussion of impeaching Gov. Jay Nixon.
But staying on topic with Governor Nixon, a few of my colleagues decided to garner discussions surrounding his impeachment over these last several days.
Three lawmakers have filed articles of impeachment claiming Nixon took too long in announcing special elections for vacant seats in the legislature, accusing Nixon of failing to properly discipline state employees involved in last year’s DOR document-scanning scandal, and filing an executive order against Missouri’s Constitution which calls the state to honor joint tax returns of same-sex couples married in other states.
Although I do agree that Nixon did fall short in several areas, I believe he has done nothing of any magnitude to warrant impeachment. These types of antics seem to be a waste of time and energy.
Amen!
