THE FLASH FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR * PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST KANSAS AND MISSOURI...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN SOUTHEAST KANSAS...BOURBON...CHEROKEE AND CRAWFORD. IN MISSOURI...BARRY...BARTON...CEDAR... CHRISTIAN...DADE...DALLAS...DENT...DOUGLAS...GREENE... HOWELL...JASPER...LACLEDE...LAWRENCE...MCDONALD...NEWTON... OREGON...OZARK...POLK...SHANNON...STONE...TANEY...TEXAS... VERNON...WEBSTER AND WRIGHT. * THROUGH THIS EVENING * RAIN WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION EARLY TODAY BECOMING LOCALLY HEAVY AT TIMES THIS AFTERNOON. ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 2 INCHES ARE EXPECTED THROUGH TODAY WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE. * RECENT HEAVY RAIN HAS SATURATED SOILS AND RESULTED IN RISES ON AREA STREAMS AND RIVERS. ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL COULD LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING OF LOW WATER CROSSINGS AND STREAMS...AS WELL AS RESULT IN SIGNIFICANT RISES ON AREA RIVERS. THOSE CAMPING OR FLOATING ON AREA STREAMS AND RIVERS SHOULD BE ALERT FOR RAPID WATER LEVEL RISES. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED.
