The preliminary hearing for a former Webb City High School vocal music teacher charged with sexual contact with a student, origiually scheduled for this morning in Jasper County CIrcuit Court, has been rescheduled for 1:30 p.m. July 10.
Springfield attorney Dee Wampler, representing Carrie Njoroge, filed a motion for continuance earlier this week.
The charges against Mrs. Njoroge stem from an after-hours sex act with an 18-year-old high school student that allegedly took place Tuesday, April 15, in her office at the school, according to the probable cause statement.
Two days later, school officials placed her on paid administrative leave. She resigned the following day, according to a statement from the school district.
The probable cause statement says that April 15 was not the first time Mrs. Njorege had sex with the student. He says the relationship began three months earlier.
