JIm Evans to speak in Joplin Thursday

(From Seventh District Democratic Congressional candidate Jim Evans)

Jim Evans strongly believes that recent Supreme Court decisions (Citizens United, McCutcheon, Hobby Lobby) granting personhood to corporations and thereby extending free exercise of speech and religion rights to these state-created legal entities have wholly distorted the Constitution and fundamentally undermined our democratic republic.

Jim supports the ongoing efforts of citizens in the Seventh Congressional District and across the country to remedy this affront to American principles. As we commemorate the writing, signing and issuance of the Declaration of Independence, Jim calls upon all Members of the United States House and Senate and upon all citizens who treasure liberty to take to heart these words of Thomas Jefferson, who so eloquently crafted the document we celebrate this July 4th:

“I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations, which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country.”

Today’s corporate criminality, such as that exhibited by Wall Street banksters and other white collar racketeers, goes largely unpunished and accepted by our nation’s leaders. Many of these shameless fat cats, awash with public bailouts and crony capitalist cash, even dare to lecture poor, working class and middle class Americans on their plight and precarious livelihoods, blaming the victims of their own reckless greed for the loss of jobs and incomes experienced by these individuals and families.

Jefferson said this about them, “Everything predicted by the enemies of the banks in the beginning, is now coming to pass….The dominion of the banks must be broken, or it will break us.”

Jim is joining with the national campaign spearheaded by a diverse coalition of public interest organizations who have come together under the banner Money Out, Voters In. www.moneyout-votersin.org

Jim will speak about these critical matters on Wednesday, July 2, at 2:00 p.m. at The Library Center in Springfield and on Thursday, July 3, at 9:30 a.m. at the Joplin Public Library in Joplin.

In honor of our heritage, as a Veteran and patriot, Jim says, “As we hail the Founders and the revolution that created America, let us also heed their words and follow their example. Let us join together to assert our rights, reclaim our rightful citizenship and restore our country.”

I will grab my tinfoil hat- to keep Hobby Lobby from monitoring my brain waves, and be there to support him.
