Graves: Obamacare must be repealed

In his latest report, Sixth District Congressman Sam Graves offers his opinion on Obamacare.

Growing up in a small north Missouri town like Tarkio, we learned from an early age the importance of doing what you say you will do and always keeping your word. Unfortunately for millions of Americans, President Obama has fallen short on keeping his word. We all remember President Obama’s promise that “if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan.” This has turned out to be yet another in a long line of empty promises at best and an outright falsehood at worst. Obamacare has become nothing more than a series of delays and broken promises.

Since its passage, without a single Republican vote in the House or Senate, Obamacare has proven harmful to all – from small businesses to family farmers to individuals. It threatens middle-class jobs and it hurts our economy. But now, despite what the president repeatedly promised, millions of Americans are losing their health plans because they don’t comply with Obamacare.

Recently, it has been projected that roughly 50 million hardworking Americans could face cancellations or disruptions to their care. This is simply unacceptable. I am proud to say the House of Representatives took action to ensure that the promise of access to a quality health care plan of your choosing is kept, and passed theKeep Your Health Plan Act.

At the end of the day, this is just another reason why the ill-conceived and unworkable law must be repealed. If President Obama and Democrats in Congress were serious about keeping their promise to the American people, they would join with us to address these issues immediately.
