(From Sixth District Congressman Sam Graves)
President Ronald Reagan summed up the federal government’s flawed idea of an economic policy best when he said, “If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” That is exactly what we are seeing today. We have a tax code that is unworkable and an endless stream of unnecessary regulations coming out of bureaucracies in Washington.
There is no better example of over-regulation and job killing policies than what we see from the EPA. Recently, the EPA released a rule that would dramatically expand its authority to regulate ponds, ditches, and gullies under the Clean Water Act (CWA). This unprecedented move employs illogical and confusing terms to expand the size and scope of the EPA’s authority on private lands.
This power grab will lead to fewer jobs, higher costs, more permitting, and more delay and disruption for property owners. Any industry that relies on land use, such as farming and home building, will fall victim to the mandates of Washington bureaucrats. These concerns were reinforced by the Small Business Administration recently when they said the rule will have a “direct and potentially costly impact on small businesses.”
That is why I introduced the Stop the EPA Act. My bill allows Congress to be a roadblock to these senseless regulations. When it comes down to it, you elected me to represent you – not the EPA – and I want to close the flood gates on this Administration’s radical liberal agenda that is harming our way of life.
It is my land. I should be able to set off a nuclear bomb if I want. Who cares who else is affected...it is MY land......kills jobs...over regulated.....over taxed...unfair to me.....praise Reagan.....911!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe green movement is the old red movement. Its all about control over the people. The president has a pen and phone and is daily shredding our constitution. I can only pry that the American people wake up before we lose our great country. We must push Missouri Legislature to move to Article V and get control of the federal monster.
ReplyDeleteThe epa are commies. Next thing you know they will be arresting kids for p**ping and p**ing in the swimming pool. That's just as organic as any granola.
ReplyDeleteIf it is legal for farmers and and factory livestock confinements to do it then it should be legal for our children to do it.
Pollution is a concept invented by the Alinskyites to explain accidents of nature and god's plan like the Donora smog.
The EPA killed my job, I was an otter scrubber for forty years. Then those damn double hulled tankers stopped the oil spills. Now what am I supposed to do?
