Drinks on the veranda, a breathtaking view...and C. J. Huff?

When C. J. Huff delivers the keynote speech during the awards luncheon at the Independent Insurance Agents of Dallas convention tomorrow (Wednesday), they will hear the Joplin R-8 superintendent deliver the same message he has delivered across the United States.

They will hear about his heroism, when he alone could see the path that Joplin needed to take following the May 22, 2011, tornado.

They will hear about how leadership, especially when practiced the way C. J. Huff practices it, can get you through any crisis.

They will undoubtedly see a power point presentation including photos from the tornado and smiling children whose lives were changed for the better because C. J. Huff delivered that potent message- "We will have school."

Still, the insurance agents will not get a chance to get the know the real C. J. Huff, the one that Joplin has come to know and love- unless, of course, they are included in the VIP session scheduled for later in the afternoon.

Instead of rushing immediately to the airport after his keynote address and catching the first flight back to Joplin (just in case another situation occurs when someone has to proclaim "we will have school") C. J. Huff will hang around the Irving Convention Center tomorrow and have an intimate meeting with those who have paid the most money for the privilege.

The special session is covered in the advertising for the event:

VIP Sponsor Reception with Brian Williams, Dr. C.J. Huff, and Commissioner Julia Rathgeber

This is an exclusive event for our top sponsors to meet all of our All Industry Day speakers and to hear a special executive-level message from Brian Williams. VIP sponsors are invited to join us for drinks on the third level veranda with a breathtaking view of Las Colinas.

The VIPs are those who forked over $7,500 tp become platinum sponsors of the event, $5,000 to be gold sponsors, or $2,500 to be silver sponsors.

Brian Williams is not the former KOAM reporter who now anchors the NBC Nightly News, but a consultant who speaks on "effective communications" and "influential business presentations."

Julia Rathgeber is the Texas Commissioner of Insurance.

Who wouldn't want to pay $2,500 to $7,500 to have drinks on the veranda with a consultant, a commissioner of insurance and a C. J. Huff?

You throw in that "breathtaking view" and it is hard to pass up an opportunity like that.

A butcher, a baker, a candle stick maker. Oh wait, those are out of order!
He will fit right in with a bunch of insurance agents... They are at the top of the list (with car salesmen, politicians and CJ Huff) as the biggest bunch of lying scum on earth!

How can we find out if CJ is being paid by taxpayers for that day, as well as the other days he is out profitting at our expense? This is so immoral, unethical, and probably illegal that it sickens me. We don't have reading teachers, the bus drivers and other employees have been cut back in hours so CJ doesn't have to come up with money for benefits for them, but he's out making big bucks off of a phony story about himself he invented after a tragedy that hurt many of us. If the board doesn't address this issue, and if transparency about the double pay issue isn't provided, then we must take every action to get CJ driven out of our district. This has to stop.

I'm sure we will see this filed on the Missouri Ethics Commission report soon. Ha! I amuse myself.

Yes kids, you can see the superintendent of your district drink like a fish for enough money. Now, there's a great example for the community's kids. Whatever it takes, every day. Yeah. Right.

Sounds like a lot more fun than showing up to do your job. You know: out of control kids out of control, inexperienced and demoralized teachers, falling and failing test scores, sinkholes sinking, school board members asking questions, auditors auditing, budgets ballooning, lawsuits lingering, lawyers lurking, members of the public reading Turner's Reports,

I think you'd have to give me a lot of drinks and some waders to stand around and listen to his pile of poo.

There is no other BOE in the universe that would tolerate this nonsense. They do not represent Joplin. They represent Huff.

Of course none of this can be true. Otherwise, it would be on the local news and in the newspaper.

At first glance I thought, "Wow! The Brian Williams?" Then it occured to me, that he has a day job; unlike the other two high dollar prostitutes. Then, it was confirmed that it wasn't him. My respect remains intact.

C'mon Anson. Tell us the "real" story on all this, Use your wizardry with words to inform and enlighten. Explain how this heroic figure is further helping our kids by hanging out in Texas with a bunch of soulless assassins. Amaze us with your take on how your unfairly judged Saint CJ is championing the cause of education....any education, not just Joplin, where we dupes pay him to jet set for his own benefit. When he finally leaves, please go with him.
