Former Webb City principal pleads not guilty in double homicide

Former Webb City High School Principal Mark Porter waived his preliminary hearing and entered a not guilty plea Friday in Greene County Circuit Court to charges of first degree murder in connection with the April 30 deaths of Gary and Jan Tyrrell of Springfield.

A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. December 19.

Porter is charged with killing Gary and Jan Tyrell of Springfield. Mr. Tyrrell was the assistant superintendent of the Mountain Grove school district when Porter was superintendent.

The probable cause affidavit indicates that DNA and the tracking of stolen coins led authorities to Porter.
