Hearing set for Carl Junction man charged with shooting at Jasper County deputy

A motion hearing is scheduled Friday in Jasper County Circuit Court for a Carl Junction man charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action, and firing a shot from a vehicle at a Jasper County deputy.

Those offenses allegedly occurred during an October 2013 crime spree which saw Dennis Caleb Goode, 32, also charged with tampering with a motor vehicle in Taney County and burglary and resisting arrest in Newton County.

The Newton County Sheriff’s Department had earlier indicated it was looking into the possibility that Goode, who has a lengthy criminal history, may have been involved in the home invasion murder of Jeffrey Slama, 58, Joplin.
