C. J. Huff to teachers: Come listen to my vision of a bright future

Teachers in the Joplin R-8 School District never look forward to professional development, since much of it is professional indoctrination, but they have less reason to look forward to the professional development they are going to receive Friday, February, 20.

Superintendent C. J. Huff is ready to turn the page on the school district's recent history and next Friday's professional development will consist of C. J. revealing his vision for the future of the school district.

The following e-mail was sent to teachers Thursday:

All-District Professional Development
2-3 p.m., Feb. 20

JHS/FTC, 2104 Indiana Ave.

Dear faculty and staff,

I am looking forward to meeting with all of you on Feb. 20 at 2 p.m at JHS/FTC. This professional development session will last one hour. During this time I will briefly share with you the results of last year's culture survey and spend some time sharing our district vision moving forward. We've had a challenging and intense recent history, and I'm thankful (as I'm sure you are) that we are closing that chapter and moving forward.

It is important that you attend this event. I will be sharing our strategic focus and providing insight into the plans and expectations for the next few years. There is great work going on in our classrooms and buildings, and I have never been more excited and energized about our future. Together, we can write the next great chapter for Joplin Schools and make our district the pride of our students, parents, patrons, and staff. But, we can't do it without you and your heart for students, learning, and public education!

Following the session, you are invited to stay for refreshments and tour JHS/FTC.

    Scene: Black Knight defending bridge...

After having both arms and both legs severed from his body, the Knight claims..."It is but a scratch."

At what point does tenacity become stupidity?

Joplin's new groundbreaking curriculum will be based on the book 1984.

Maybe Huff's been taking lessons from great leaders of history--make all the workers come and worship at the feet of Glorious Leader on a regular basis and they will be loyal and happy.

He will most likely use this command performance to indoctrinate the staff even further, and instruct them as to what to say and what not to say to patrons on the results of the audit. Hourly employees, such as paras, who have e day off without pay, are expected to attend, in the middle of their day off. Then they wonder why morale in the district is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

You have to acknowledge that there's troubles before you can leave the troubles behind.

Remember when the Huff supporters would leave comments like "If things were so bad, wouldn't we know it?"

How do we get from there to: "Let's turn the page and leave our troubles behind!"

How do we go from denial that anything is wrong to "We have to move on from what is wrong!"

He is trying real hard to control the message with pre-audit spin tactics. This wouldn't be happening if the audit didn't have something.

Let us establish the Party's monolithic leadership system more thoroughly across the Party and society!

  8. Every story I read about Joplin makes me more happy that I don't work there any more.
