THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SPRINGFIELD HAS ISSUED A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR LIGHT SNOW AND FREEZING DRIZZLE...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM CST THURSDAY. * SHORT TERM TRENDS...AREAS OF FREEZING DRIZZLE OR VERY LIGHT FREEZING RAIN WILL INCREASE ACROSS MUCH OF THE MISSOURI OZARKS AND SOUTHEASTERN KANSAS THROUGH LATE THIS AFTERNOON BEFORE TRANSITIONING TO LIGHT SNOW THIS EVENING. TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO FALL INTO THE 20S. * TIMING AND AREAS AFFECTED...FROM THIS AFTERNOON UNTIL 3 AM TONIGHT. * SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...MINOR ACCUMULATIONS OF A TRACE TO AROUND ONE HALF INCH. LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS NEAR ONE INCH POSSIBLE MAINLY ACROSS CENTRAL MISSOURI. * ICE ACCUMULATIONS...VERY LIGHT COATING. * WINDS AND VISIBILITY...NORTHERLY WINDS UP TO 25 MPH WHICH COULD CAUSE SOME BLOWING SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITY. * IMPACTS...HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS WILL LIKELY DEVELOP ON UNTREATED ROADS...BRIDGES AND OVERPASSES.
