Joplin woman, convicted of tornado fraud, has probation revoked

A Joplin woman who pleaded guilty to a tornado fraud charge in 2013, is headed to prison.

After Pamala Shafer, 59, pleaded guilty to claiming she lived in a home that had been hit by the May 22, 2011, tornado, she was sentenced to time served and placed on supervised probation for three years.

Documents filed today in U. S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, indicate the judge has revoked her probation and sentenced her to five months in prison.

Shafer committed three probation violations, according to the documents- using a controlled substance, refraining from excessive use of alcohol or using prescription medication that has not bene prescribed for her, and failure to successfully participate in a substance abuse counseling program.

    Randy, do you know anything about why the owner and director of stone village children's center (Montessori preschool and early head start provider) was arrested at the center in front of the kids last week? She's still in business posting pics of kids and activities on stone village childrens centers page on facebook. She was assigned a public defender named Jared Stilley. Her name is LeAnna Williams.
