What is not known yet is whether they will become board members at that point or if the documents will not be officially signed until the regular board meeting Tuesday, April 21, which would provide one last chance for Anne Sharp and the current school board to conduct business, which purportedly includes approving an assessment program,which would cost the district approximately $300,000 over the next three years. The program is being pushed by Curriculum Director Sarah Stevens, the same one who has saddled the district with the Common Core Collaborative, a consultant group that has cost taxpayers approximately $100,000 with the total still increasing.
What has also not been settled is exactly where the swearing-in will take place, only that it will be at the high school.
District officials were aware early that Koch would be in Washington, D. C. on April 21 on a business trip. That would not keep him from being able to participate in a meeting of the new board since board member Mike Landis has been absent from several meetings, but has participated by Skype, but it would prevent him from taking part in a swearing-in ceremony.
Efforts were made to move the regular board meeting up, but board meetings can only be called by the president and Anne Sharp appears to be in no hurry to relinquish her position.
If Anne Sharp allows this 300 grand to be wasted on something that dumbass Sarah came up with, she should move out of town. She's going to be finding few friends anywhere she goes. She lost because she did a bad job and protected a corrupt superintendent. Have the decency to step aside, already, and let the people have their say.

ReplyDeleteAnother 300 grand? Really? First a "consultant" for 100 grand, and now 300 more? What kind of kickback is Miss Sarah getting out of this? I wouldn't trust her to pick out Big Chief tablets. Does the public realize she's only taught for 2-3 years? She couldn't even teach those in the same building because she couldn't get along with anyone. She isn't qualified for anything and has no practical experience except for kissing up. Hateful little snot needs to go back to Kansas with CJ, Terri Hart, and Tina Smith. Send them all packing.

Certification of election results.
162.201. Not later than three days after the election as provided for in section 162.191, the county clerk shall certify to the state board of education the results of the election in each proposed seven-director school district.

Yes, but it is not recommended. The current Board stays in office until the newly elected members are sworn in. Understandably, the previous Board may want to meet to finalize
issues that may be confusing to new Board members. However, meeting after the election but before swearing in the newly elected Board members could confuse the public – particularly
if an incumbent was not re-elected. Such an action could be perceived as an unwillingness to turn over authority to the new Board. MSBA
recommends that the Board finalize important business prior to the election if at all possible.
If not possible, the old Board may legally meet, but should keep the business to a minimum.
