The letter is one of the items on the agenda for Tuesday's 4 p.m. Board of Education meeting.
Roberts was the second leading vote-getter,finishing behind Jeff Koch in the April 7 election. Former Board President Anne Sharp finished third.
Roberts was recently confirmed as head of the Missouri Department of Public Safety and will continue to serve in that position.
Too late. He might have gotten the votes but he has obviously missed the 14 day time period. And let's not forget one of Mr. Huff's moto's, "rules are rules".
ReplyDeleteThis is a crock - he missed the 14 day window. Not only that, but the community sent a message by voting for him - they were voting out Sharp!

There is nothing to keep him for applying for the open seat. If the six board members don't select him for the job, they would be ignoring the voters. Let's keep Lane!!

ReplyDeleteIf he fills the seat, it will be interesting to see if Huff tries to schedule meetings for times when Roberts is out of town, too.
ReplyDeletei am going to hope that now that Roberts has a bigger stage than Joplin, with bigger papers than the Globe to cover him, that he will not want to be too closely associated with a corrupt school official. It might be too late to save Huff's career, so why would Roberts want to ruin his own reputation? I'm going to hope for the best until I see reason for doubt.

ReplyDeleteThe second is that we're probably headed for a lawsuit at best, since as noted the law says he's no longer eligible, something Huff and company know since that was their plan to keep Koch off the board.
Third is that this situation is wilder than I could have ever imagined.
Is there any other district that has as many weird occurrences than ours? Maybe if we didn't get in the Guinness Book of Records with that ribbon we can get in with number of weird events. Hopefully, common sense will return soon, maybe even tomorrow night, because we need it...
