Joplin City Council passes Chili's rezoning on first reading

The Joplin City Council took the first step toward rezoning to put a Chili's restaurant at 15th and Rangeline.

From the report by KODE's Bryan McLoone:

"We've had a lot of our experts and traffic experts from MODOT analyze this. And with a couple of additions, we have moved this forward for rezoning," said Mike Seibert, Joplin Mayor.

The proposed restaurant would be more than 6,000 square feet and have 128 parking spots. Officials say they will have a discussion with O'Reilly's Auto Parts, which is located on the other side of the project site, about closing off 14th Street. Council members will take this up under second and third reading at their next council meeting.
