Steele: I've had threatening phone calls

Randy Steele, who resigned from the Joplin R-8 Board of Education prior to Tuesday night's meeting, tells KZRG that he quit because of the pressure that was being placed on him.

I've had people bring things to my work place; envelopes with letters telling me I need to make sure to vote for a certain person to be put on the board, and if not they'll show up to meetings."

"I've had people bring things to my work place; envelopes with letters telling me I need to make sure to vote for a certain person to be put on the board, and if not they'll show up to meetings" and taunt me in person.

Especially with Huff being attended by plain clothes policeman, this is a pretty minor league, not to mention legal "threat" as long as there was no implication of violence.

I've received threats = I can see the writing on the wall.

It's a shame how evangelism can wreck someone's life. To thine own self be true.

In other places I've read that he received letters and people would be bringing those to the meetings. In this account he has received envelopes. He does not say that he has received threats to his person. So, whatever the threat is, it is in those envelopes and is a threat to h is reputation. The question that begs to be answered is, what has Steele done that would be in those envelopes? He wanted to be BoE president just a few weeks ago, now he is saying he is tired of the pressure. Those two things don't balance out.

I think what we are hearing is the sound of skeletons rattling in Steele's closet. I wonder what they have to say?

It is tough once you have to move beyond the rubber stamp stage of management. Glad to see Steele has finally figured that out, no matter what it was that caused his epiphany. A positive front and a fake smile just won't cover up a destroyed district for very long.

  7. The Board is turning onto an even bigger farce than it already was, this is just unreal.

This is an example of Randy Steel voting with his feet. My guess is he is not in CJ's corner (he has publicly expressed his anger and disdain for CJ), but for whatever reason he is incapable of voting against anything CJ or Mr. Mikey wants. So this is his out - he can resign and not have to take a stand against CJ and Mikey and he can provide some unprovable reason as to why he resigned. He is out! Now that he has resigned the new board will vote to bring in Jim Kimbrough and Marci Archer and in the very least the vote is now 4-3 if Dr. Archer is a Huff supporter. More likely it will be a 5-2 vote with Banwart and Mikey the hold outs - if CJ has not realized it - Randy Steel resigning spells the end of his time at Joplin. If he has any sense of reality left, he will resign quickly before he is fired or reassigned.
